Updated: May 30, 2020
Following on from the previous road information find it here, this update continues to be checked and is accurate as of: 8am: 30th May 2020.
The situation as of the 21/05/2020
(RED) Wombeyan Caves Road is expected to be closed until Mar 2021
(BLUE) Wombeyan Caves Road and Langs Road sections above in blue are open.
Also closed is access to Range Fire Trail and other side tracks in the area.
There are several stages of repair to be completed prior to the roads being reopened, and contrary to social media here-say, there's good news with work continuing to make reopening a reality, the area between Goodmans Ford (E) and Langs Rd (D) could be opened earlier than expected if all goes well.
On the flip side, don't expect any public access in the immediate future, the next couple of stages could take months to complete, and with the severity of damage sustained, there could be several closures well into the foreseeable future, maybe even through the next couple of years.
It's a huge task to repair and rebuild this historic road, the fires and then flooding has made the area extremely unstable, excavation, retaining walls of huge proportions, and time to settle are needed to ensure it's safe and sustainable.
Authorities and respective controlling departments have asked for a simple and clear path to complete the required work, if the road closure signs are ignored, expect substantial barriers and access to authorised vehicles only.
See you out there!
