Bike Minded #1 - Camp 29th Feb 2020

Updated: Mar 6

We all ride for different reasons, and we're all Bike Minded!

Starting in Feb, and maybe every couple of months, we're holding a social get together, select a place and meet there. A pub, a shed, a campground...whatever it may be.

5 people, 50 or 500...doesn't matter, talk bikes, talk mental health, anything at all.

A great way to check out camp gear that others carry, bike mods, meet new mates and organise getting out for a skid.

The 1st 'Bike Minded' get together is at Cambewarra NSW at our place, bring your tent, swag, or whatever, you'll need to be self sufficient, camp trailers, or campers are fine too, we've got plenty of space.

Arrive anytime you like Saturday from say 3pm so there's some daylight and 'maybe' have a few beers into the night.

Sunday morning, up to you, have a lazy start or take a short run up to Kangaroo Valley for breakfast, if you've got the day, maybe do a ride out to Taralga for lunch.

Make it up as we go, have a group ride with everyone or ride with a couple of new mates.

It's an absolute no frills afair, just a get together to meet new riders, share our passion, a reason to get away or just have a beer and talk bullshit.

Share in your bike groups or invite a mate that might be keen to come along.

A bit of background about our community cause

I have met and ridden with a fair few on here, and lots came around from when I was doing the tracks4life charity rides.

When I moved back to NSW, we held a ride in Orange, then a couple more between Cairns and Victoria and then the full lap with Tracey in 2018, since then have made lots of new mates along the way.

Ride360 kicked off and it's continued to build, more than just the rides, the friendships are what I've taken away from it the most. If you know me, you'll be aware of how passionate I am about riding and also about suicide prevention. I did 4yrs fulltime as as a volunteer from being on MH boards, committees, crisis response and the charity that was founded after my own breakdown.

We launched rural toolbox talks and some other really good 'stuff' along the way.

If you're not familiar with that side of our community involvement, here's a quick view of the Ride To Stop Suicide and our story. Read it here

A recent reminder

Mid Jan 2020: Last night reminded me once again just how important it is to 'talk' ....I sat on a rock ledge for a few hours with police, after some coordination, the rescue crew, SES and SLSC arrived, all because a bloke had no one to talk to and thought about the other alternative.

Thankfully it turned out ok, this time.
