2020 NSW Trailblazer

The trailblazer was all set to be our 2020 charity ride supporting the areas affected by the horrific bushfires.

Then Covid hit and all the planning went out the window.

With the uncertainty of getting back to full capacity sized events straight away, we're doing this one differently.

We've restructured the event using our existing BLITZ, RiderRoutes and Motocache platform, it will now run under our challenge area for the next 12 months.

With significant loss of property and lives in the region, there was already a lot of uncertainty and a damn lot of work to do for many towns to recover.

Adventure riders all visit these areas often, supporting the shops and small businesses through purchasing fuel, local food and accommodation, and we were all hoping to get back out there fast and do our bit.

Towns were just starting to see some light, travel was starting again, even though it was difficult with much of the trail network damaged, we were putting the trailblazer together.

Then bloody COVID came along and we were all stopped in our tracks.

The Barrett 3 day Adventure Ride, the BLITZ Series and the BikeMinded Camps were all looking like they wouldn't be possible for some time yet.

The majority of our events and challenges all had one thing in common..they're all in the regions hit worst by the fires.

we had to come up with a way to make it all work.

So we decided to combine our existing trail networks from those events, add the new routes that were planned for 2020 and combine our Motocache, RiderRoutes and leaderboard system to create the 2020 NSW trailblazer.

The webpage is now live, registrations open on May 15 with the first route available on the 1st of June.

There'll be at least 8 GTR's (General Trailblazer Routes) from the south around the Bodalla area up to the Hunter Valley region and west to Orange.

Each GTR will be designed to be loops of two and three day routes, you can do the whole loop or any parts whenever you like, you can just select a waypoint and navigate your own way if that suits you too.

The 2020 trailblazer routes will be ridden often, any significant changes or additions will be added and the routes will grow, we hope to see you out there on the trails real soon.

More info about the trailblazer can be found here.

If you've been on one of our rides, you'd know Serge.

Serge joined the BLITZ series in 2019, registering himself as a beginner, by the end of the year he successfully rode one of the sidewinder tracks on his GS.

Serge had to cut the final ride short and for months he was on the ground, in the air and in the trucks, he's also added a short section and a Motocache to be added to a BLAZE route.

Like so many of our nation's volunteers, Serge is a bloody champion. Thanks for everything you do mate! We can't wait to hit the trails with you again soon.

A few pics from route one.

(Above) This is a sidecase from a Honda Quad melted in the fires, on top of the timber frame is what was still on the ground, the lower is how far it followed a hole into the soil.

Peter has framed it and had a plate engraved in memory of those lost in the fires.

More info about the trailblazer can be found here.

If you've ridden any of our BLITZ RiderRoutes, you'll know just how well sorted and accurate our GPS files are, the BLAZE RiderRoutes will continue to be delivered in the same way but with even more content.

And for all the riders that have registered and paid for any future events, you can choose to join the rescheduled events or transfer your entry across to the trailblazer.

It's your ride, your way.

See you out there.
